Part-Time Strength and Conditioning Coach

Position Overview

Butler University seeks a part‑time strength and conditioning coach to assist in managing and supervising the daily strength and conditioning operations for multiple sport programs. The part‑time coach assists the head coach and assistant coaches in providing skills and support for the vision and strategies of Butler’s programs.

• Assist with the coaching and teaching of training programs for 20 teams and 400 student‑athletes; expertise includes strength development, cardiovascular development, team conditioning, speed development, flexibility development, injury prevention, rehabilitation of injured student‑athletes, nutrition and supplement education.
• Assist the building and maintenance of year‑round, periodized training programs for assigned teams; maintain progress records for evaluation of programs.
• Help build a positive culture through collaboration with weight‑room staff, athletic trainers, sport coaches, student‑athletes, and other athletic personnel.
• Other duties as assigned by Head Strength and Conditioning Coach.

• 3+ years of strength and conditioning experience within the HS, private or professional setting.
• Baccalaureate degree required.
• NSCA or CSCCA certification required.
• Ability to work flexible hours required.
• Ability to teach Olympic lifts, sprint techniques, lift 100 pounds and safely spot athletes on squats and presses required.
• Knowledge of NCAA Division I and Big East rules and regulations.
• Ability to work effectively with student‑athletes, coaches, administrators and staff members.
• Outstanding verbal communication and leadership skills.
• Ability to organize, multi‑task, and collaborate at a high‑level with a diverse group of individuals.
• Computer skills in Word and Excel required.

• USWA certification preferred.
• 3-5 years of collegiate coaching or playing experience.
• Desired candidate will have outstanding verbal communication and leadership skills and be able to work effectively with student‑athletes, coaches, administrators, and staff.
