The Agriculture Teacher will provide instruction to both middle school and high school students in agricultural science and related pathways. The role involves developing, delivering and engaging standards-based curriculum, integrating FFA and supervised agricultural experiences (SAE), and promoting student leadership and career readiness in agricultural fields.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:Instructional Duties:
- Teach agriculture courses aligned to state standards (e.g., Principles of Agriculture, ALS Foods, Animal Science, ALS Animals, Plant and Soil Science, etc.)
- Design age-appropriate lessons for middle school exploratory or intro classes and high school CTE-level content
- Incorporate hands‑on learning, project‑based assessments, and technology into instruction
- Differentiate instruction to meet diverse student needs
- Maintain a classroom environment consistent with established codes of conduct and conducive to positive learning
- Administer frequent formal and informal assessments to monitor student progress. Analyze data to make instructional adjustments to improve student learning
- Serve as assistant FFA Chapter Advisor for middle and high school students
- Facilitate participation in FFA events, CDEs, and leadership conferences
- Assist with SAE programs, maintain records, and conduct student evaluations
- Develop partnerships with local ag businesses and community stakeholders
- Maintain lab, greenhouse, or school farm as applicable
- Manage inventory, tools, and safety protocols
- Attend professional development and maintain CTE and state teaching licensure
- Collaborate with colleagues and administration to align curriculum and improve instructional programs as well as the overall operation of the school
- Communicate with parents and stakeholders about student progress and events
- Uphold school policies and student behavior expectations
- Perform other duties as assigned
- Bachelor's degree in Agricultural Education or related field
- Valid state teaching license with CTE or Agriculture endorsement
- Experience with FFA and SAE programs preferred
- Strong communication, leadership, and organizational skills
- Ability to engage students at both the middle and high school levels
- Being Dual Credit qualified or the ability to be qualified is preferred (TWHS is partnered with Ivy Tech to offer Dual Credit to our agricultural students)
