This role supports the school's Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS) by working with student services staff to identify needs, implementing targeted interventions, and monitoring student progress.
AttendanceIn addition, the Student Services Specialist works to educate students and families on the importance of regular school attendance and helps identify and resolve barriers that prevent students from attending school consistently. This position collaborates with school administration to review and monitor students with attendance concerns and works with probation officers and community partners to support and facilitate improved student attendance.
BuildingSupport
This position serves as a member of the school's Crisis Response Team, assisting with crisis intervention, safety planning, and student support during critical situations. The Student Services Specialist works directly with Student Services staff, administrators, and community agencies to coordinate services, connect families with resources, and support student well‑being and success.
Community PartnershipThe Student Services Specialist maintains student Release of Information (ROI) documentation and facilitates collaboration with community service providers working within the school. In this role, the Coordinator works closely with Student Services staff, administrators, families, and community agencies to coordinate care and prepare referrals to outside resources, including wraparound services, counseling, and case management. The position ensures that all communication and coordination with outside agencies complies with legal and confidentiality requirements while supporting integrated services that meet the needs of students and families.
FamilySupport
Student Services Specialist bridges gaps among the student services team, school administration, and the community by connecting students and families with resources, fostering engagement, and supporting student enrollment and success. This position serves as a primary point of contact for students and families with Tier 3 needs, helping coordinate services and ensure that students receive appropriate support.
McKinney‑Vento LiaisonThe Student Services Specialist serves as the McKinney‑Vento Liaison, supporting students and families experiencing homelessness. Responsibilities include identification of students experiencing homelessness, coordinating transportation, providing family support, and connecting families with resources, ensuring compliance with federal guidelines, and assisting with grant‑related documentation and reporting to support services for eligible students.
Mental Health and Behavior SupportThe Student Services Specialist provides Tier 2 and Tier 3 behavioral support to students in order to promote positive behavior, emotional well‑being, and academic success. This position works directly with teachers to implement classroom behavioral supports, provide behavior management strategies, and assist in developing and monitoring intervention plans for students requiring additional support.
Provide direct student support through short‑term individual and small‑group behavioral or social‑emotional interventions. Support students in developing essential skills such as self‑regulation, problem‑solving, conflict resolution, and emotional management to improve their ability to succeed in the classroom and school environment.
MTSS/RTI Behavior LeadershipSupport the implementation of Tier 1, Tier 2, and Tier 3 behavioral interventions aligned with the district's Multi‑Tiered System of Supports (MTSS). Analyze student behavioral data to identify areas of need and guide intervention planning. Participate in problem‑solving teams and assist in the development and implementation of Behavior Intervention Plans (BIPS). Monitor student progress and adjust supports as needed using data‑informed decision‑making to ensure effective behavioral and academic outcomes.
