Position Overview

Mill Creek East Elementary is seeking a passionate, student-centered Fourth Grade English Language Arts (ELA) Teacher for a one-year teaching contract
. We are looking for an educator who is committed to high-quality literacy instruction, collaboration, and fostering a positive learning environment where all students can thrive.

The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of evidence-based reading practices, experience differentiating instruction to meet diverse student needs, and a willingness to collaborate with colleagues to support student success. Candidates with a background in the Science of Reading and an interest in integrating STEM concepts across the curriculum are strongly preferred.

Qualifications
  • Valid Indiana Elementary Teaching License
  • Strong knowledge of literacy instruction and best practices in reading and writing
  • Science of Reading training and experience preferred
  • Ability to differentiate instruction based on student data and individual learning needs
  • Commitment to collaborative planning and teamwork
  • Strong classroom management and relationship‑building skills
  • Experience integrating technology and STEM‑related learning opportunities into instruction
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills
  • Growth mindset and commitment to continuous professional learning
Responsibilities
  • Deliver engaging, standards-based ELA instruction aligned with Indiana Academic Standards
  • Utilize assessment data to inform instruction and support student growth
  • Differentiate instruction to meet the needs of all learners
  • Collaborate with grade‑level teammates, intervention staff, and special education staff
  • Foster a positive classroom culture focused on student engagement and achievement
  • Support school‑wide literacy initiatives and Science of Reading practices
  • Integrate critical thinking, problem‑solving, and STEM connections into learning experiences
  • Maintain open communication with students, families, and colleagues
