Adjunct Cosmetology Teacher

Purpose of the Position

The Adjunct Cosmetology Teacher will be responsible for delivering a comprehensive, state-approved cosmetology curriculum that prepares students for full licensure upon completion of the program. Students will complete required instructional hours and are expected to sit for their state licensing examination at the conclusion of their senior year.

• 7330 Principles of Barbering and Cosmetology
• 7331 Barbering and Cosmetology Fundamentals
• 7332 Advanced Cosmetology
• 7334 Barbering and Cosmetology Capstone

• 184-day contract
• Additional 8–12 Saturdays throughout the school year
• Saturday sessions are open to the public to allow students to earn supervised, hands‑on instructional hours required for licensure.

• Provide high-quality instruction aligned with state standards and licensing requirements
• Supervise and evaluate students during hands‑on lab and clinic experiences
• Maintain a safe, professional salon learning environment
• Prepare students for the state cosmetology licensing examination
• Track and document student instructional hours and competencies
• Collaborate with school administration and CTE leadership to ensure program compliance and growth
• Engage with community partners and promote the cosmetology program

• Required:
  
  Valid Beauty Culture Instructor License (State of Indiana)
• Experience in cosmetology and/or barbering industry
• Strong classroom management and organizational skills
• Ability to work with high school juniors and seniors
• Commitment to student achievement and career readiness

• Serves Owen Valley High School juniors and seniors
• Provides students with real‑world salon experience
• Prepares students to complete the required hours and take the state licensing exam upon graduation
