Elementary School Guidance Counselor

Purpose of Position

The Elementary School Counselor supports the academic, social-emotional, and career development needs of all students by providing a comprehensive school counseling program. The counselor collaborates with students, families, teachers, administrators, and community resources to promote student success, foster a positive school climate, and address barriers to learning.

Position Requirements :

* Demonstrate a genuine concern for the social, emotional, and physical well-being of children

* Master Degree in School Counseling

* Valid Indiana School Counseling License

* Experience and Knowledge in Best Practices for School Counseling

* Excellent Communication and Team Skills

* Strong Organizational Skills

* Performance Responsibilities:

* Develop and implement a comprehensive school counseling program around developing knowledge, attitudes, and skills necessary for children to become healthy, competent, and confident learners.

* Work with administration to develop a safe and respectful learning environment.

* Provide education, prevention, early identification and intervention, to assist their students in achieving academic success, developing an understanding of career opportunities and developing social/emotional skills in response to issues they face.

* Provide direct services (school counseling core curriculum, individual student planning, responsive services), and indirect student services (consultation, collaboration, and referrals).

* Collaborate with the elementary and middle school counselors in order to provide a comprehensive K-12 counseling program experience for students.

* Collaborate with outside agencies to provide services to students.
