Position Purpose
To provide support to the teachers by helping to set up tasks and implement instructional processes. This job involves preparing activities for the day under the instruction of the teacher, supervising the children under their care, and ensuring the classroom stays organized. Due to their students’ young age, preschool assistants take on a combination of educational and child‑care duties. This role is well suited to people who are patient, have good attention to detail, and have experience working with children.
EssentialJob Functions
- Assist classroom teacher with daily duties.
- Facilitate small group instruction.
- Complete clerical duties as assigned by teacher.
- Supervise student behavior and activities.
- Assist with other duties as assigned.
Use standard office equipment such as personal computers, printer, copier and fax machines, calculator, and telephone.
Travel RequirementsTravel to school district buildings and professional meetings as required.
Pay Rate$15.75 per hour.
Work Schedule8 hours per day. 182 days per year.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities- Willingness to work with children.
- Ability to communicate information and ideas in speaking so others will understand.
- Ability to read and understand information and ideas presented in writing.
- Ability to listen to and understand information and ideas presented through spoken words and sentences.
- Ability to tell when something is wrong or is likely to go wrong. It does not involve solving the problem, only recognizing there is a problem.
- Ability to speak clearly so others can understand you.
Seldom = Less than 25% Occasional = 26 to 50% Often = 51 to 75% Very Frequent = Greater than 75%.
