Position Purpose
Working under the supervision of teachers and are a viable part of the total instructional program. The services performed by the teacher aide/assistant include instructional, clerical, supervisory, and behavior management duties. The overall role of the teacher aide/assistant is to provide support services to the classroom teacher. Aides/assistants are expected to implement programming as directed by classroom teachers, administrators, or the Case Conference Committee.
Teacher aides are expected to follow the Bylaws and Policies of Special Education, their assigned school, and the school corporation in which their classroom is located.
- Work effectively in the preschool classroom for student success
- Be receptive to guidance on job responsibilities from the Preschool teacher and Special Education Teachers
- Work in a positive and calming manner with students
- Work in a professional manner with all staff and as a team member
- Be punctual in attendance
- Report any absences to the building administrators and preschool teacher
- Communicate with the preschool teacher regarding pertinent information in regards to students
- Document behavior, as directed by the teacher
- Maintain confidentiality on all special education students
- Respect that communication to parents must come via teacher of record
- Other duties as assigned
Use standard office equipment such as personal computers, printer, copier and fax machines, calculator, and telephone.
Travel RequirementsTravel to school district buildings and professional meetings as required.
Pay Rate$15.75 per hour + 0.75 cent differential
Work Schedule6.5 hours per day
182 days per year

- Willingness to help special needs children.
- Effective human relations skills that include a calm, patient personality.
Seldom = Less than 25%

- Ability to stand for extended periods of time. Very Frequent
