Tri-County Intermediate School Special Education Instructional Assistant

Key Performance Responsibilities:

* Assists with supervision of students as assigned.

* Performs instructional tasks with students under the direct supervision of the classroom teacher. Duties may include small group, large group, one to one student assistance or other such duties/ assignments as determined by certified staff or building administrator.

* Must approach tasks in a pleasant, cooperative and positive manner.

* Practice patience and tenacity under trying conditions with students.

* Keep school matters confidential.

* Performs assigned supervision of students.

* Alert the certified staff to any problem or special information about an individual student.

* Assist with ensuring full implementation of instructional modifications and accommodations for students with IEP's.

* Adapt to students and their unique learning styles.

* Demonstrate consistent attendance and punctuality to assigned duties.

* Work with others, such as therapists, counselors, social workers, job coaches and other instructional assistants.

* Maintain a professional demeanor at all times in appearance and attitude.

* Attend appropriate staff meetings and trainings as deemed necessary or assigned by the building administrator or supervising teacher. Maintain training and certifications as required for the position.

* Serves as a chief source of information and help to any guest teacher assigned in the absence of the regular certified staff.

* Other duties as assigned by administration and/or supervisor.
