Dean of Students; Grades 6-8

The Dean of Students serves as a member of the middle school leadership team and supports the overall academic, behavioral, and operational success of students in grades 6–8. The Dean works collaboratively with administration, teachers, students, and families to promote a positive school culture, strengthen student accountability, support instructional expectations, and ensure a safe and supportive learning environment.

This position is designed to provide leadership support while maintaining strong connections to students and staff through a teacher-contract model.

• Valid Indiana Teaching License required
• Administrative license preferred but not required
• Minimum of three years successful teaching experience preferred
• Strong communication, organizational, and relationship-building skills
• Ability to work collaboratively with staff, students, and families
• Knowledge of student discipline practices, restorative approaches, and middle school programming

• Teacher contract with ten (10) additional days
• Five (5) days prior to the start of the school year
• Five (5) days following the end of the school year
• Additional compensation provided through an annual stipend

• Assist with student supervision, behavior support, and discipline processes
• Support implementation of school-wide expectations, PBIS/restorative practices, and student accountability systems
• Build positive relationships with students and families
• Help coordinate student attendance interventions and support plans
• Assist with student conflict resolution and behavior follow-up

• Support teachers with classroom management and student behavior strategies
• Assist administration with monitoring school procedures and expectations
• Collaborate with teachers and PLC teams to support student success
• Help coordinate substitute coverage and daily operational needs when necessary
• Support implementation of district and building initiatives

• Assist with supervision duties before school, during passing periods, lunch, after school, and school events
• Support building safety procedures and emergency response protocols
• Assist with organization of testing, student activities, and school events
• Help maintain a safe, orderly, and respectful learning environment
• Communicate effectively with students, staff, families, and community members
• Maintain confidentiality and professionalism in all matters
• Serve as a positive representative of Delphi Community School Corporation
• Perform other duties assigned by the building principal

• Ability to supervise students throughout the school building and campus
• Ability to respond quickly in emergency or disciplinary situations
• Regular standing, walking, and movement throughout the school day

Performance of this position will be evaluated annually by the Building Principal in accordance with district expectations and procedures.
