Position: Recruiter (Admissions Counselor), Graduate and International Programs
Location: Indianapolis

Department‑Specific Responsibilities

  • Recruits both LL.M. (Master's of Laws) and MLS (Master's of Legal Studies) students.
  • Application processing.
  • Pre‑matriculation programming.
  • With program and enrollment growth, assumption of duties in program management may be necessary.
  • Cooperates with Alumni Relations department to support student recruitment and mentorship by alumni.
  • Travels as needed regionally/domestically and on occasion, internationally, subject to Decanal assessment of need, for recruitment and inter‑institutional relationship‑building.
General Responsibilities
  • Maintains, implements and oversees a holistic recruitment yield tactical plan.
  • Develops, implements, and administers plans, programs, and events for general and targeted student recruitment in support of organizational goals, with a focus on growing enrollments in both programs.
  • Integrates a strategic communications strategy in collaboration with other departments, geared toward specific student course of study, career interests, and geographic factors.
  • Identifies and develops partnerships for outreach to prospective students and influencers.
  • Interprets law school and university policies and exercises authority and independent judgment.
  • Plans, implements, and evaluates programs and processes and determines the effectiveness of markets and strategies. Exercises independent judgment and uses tools such as census data and modeling tools to identify effective marketing plans and strategies to address specific populations.
  • Serves in a collaborative role with internal and external stakeholders to identify targets of opportunity to attract and enroll under‑represented populations. Participates in the assessment and evaluation of various models.
  • May attend meetings or serve on committees with the admissions stakeholders, including all staff meetings, recruitment, and outreach team meetings, customer service lead meetings, and undergraduate recruitment council meetings; may provide guidance to other admissions counselors.
Education
Required
  • Bachelor's degree
Preferred
  • Juris Doctor, LL.M., M.L.S. (Master of Legal Studies) or MBA preferred.
Work Experience
  • 2 years in admissions, higher education, marketing, or related field.

This role requires the ability to effectively communicate and to operate a computer and other standard office productivity equipment. The position involves sedentary work as well as periods of time moving around an office environment and the campus. The person in this role must be able to perform the essential functions with or without an accommodation.

Regular in‑state and regional travel is required; domestic overnight travel may be necessary, and international travel for up to 1 week may be appropriate, subject to Decanal direction.

While the role will involve some travel for recruiting purposes, the McKinney School prizes in‑person/on‑campus work presence when the person in this position is not in the field recruiting.
