Summer Schools and Camps - Lifeguard

Mission:
Culver educates its students for leadership and responsible citizenship in society by developing and nurturing the whole individual, mind, spirit, and body, through integrated programs that emphasize the cultivation of character.

The Lifeguard will provide supervision and a safe environment at the camp’s waterfront and pool activities. They will develop and deliver courses that are safe, fun, and appropriate to the campers’ age and abilities. Lifeguards will assist in the management and care of the physical facilities and will ensure that campers and staff follow safety procedures.

Lifeguard responsibilities include:

• Supervise waterfront and pool activities ensuring safety
• Deliver age appropriate water safety courses
• Monitor and enforce safety procedures
• Assist in care of physical facilities

Staff are responsible for the safety and well-being of our campers/students. Minimum expectations include:

• Graduate of high school or equivalent, at least 18 years of age (at least 1 year of college highly preferred)
• Desire and ability to work with children and teenagers
• Demonstrate honesty, self-discipline, consideration, cooperation, and strong leadership skills
• Efficient communicator and positive role model
• Maintain a positive and respectful attitude towards coworkers, campers/students, and parents
• Know and enforce the Rules and Regulations, safety protocols and procedures
• Maintain professional boundaries with all campers/students and staff
• Consistently report to work on time and in proper attire, including proper grooming
• Accept supervision and guidance in the form of evaluations and feedback
• Be in good health, vitality, and physical stamina

On-site fitness center, free meals in dining halls, lodging (upper school staff live in dorms or barracks, woodcraft staff in cabins), limited laundry and dry‑cleaning services, discount at campus store and uniform shop, strong tuition remission program for eligible children attending CSSC.
