Location: Straughn

Position Overview

The Career Coach helps students explore career interests, set goals, and prepare for life after high school. The coach works with students, parents, businesses, and community organizations to create opportunities for career exploration, work‑based learning, and post‑secondary planning.

3 days per week, 5.75 hours per day, $16.75 per hour.

Responsibilities
  • Meet with students to discuss career and academic goals.
  • Help students find and apply for internships, apprenticeships, capstone projects, and work‑based learning opportunities.
  • Build relationships with local businesses and community partners.
  • Organize career‑related activities such as college visits, career fairs, industry tours, and parent information sessions.
  • Connect students with job shadowing and mentoring opportunities.
  • Teach students workplace readiness skills, including resume writing and interviewing.
  • Promote career and educational opportunities to students and families.
  • Assist graduates who have not earned a college certificate, diploma, or degree in exploring additional education and training options.
  • Maintain accurate records and prepare required reports.
  • Serve as a contact person for student and parent questions.
  • Complete other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Experience working with students or in a related field preferred.
  • Strong computer skills and the ability to learn new software programs.
  • Self‑motivated and able to work independently.
  • Strong communication and organizational skills.
  • Friendly, positive, and able to build relationships with students, families, and community members.
