Position
Purpose:
The Curriculum, Instruction, and Assessment (CIA) Coach will support Southern Wells Community Schools in improving student achievement through curriculum alignment, instructional excellence, assessment development, and data-driven decision making. The CIA Coach will work collaboratively with teachers, principals, and district leadership to ensure that curriculum, instruction, and assessment practices are aligned with Indiana Academic Standards and the expectations of Indiana's accountability system, including IREAD, ILEARN, and ILEARN Checkpoints.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:Curriculum Leadership
- Lead and support the alignment of district curriculum with Indiana Academic Standards.
- Conduct curriculum audits and gap analyses to identify areas needing revision or improvement.
- Collaborate with teachers and administrators to develop and maintain curriculum maps, pacing guides, and instructional resources.
- Ensure vertical and horizontal alignment of curriculum across grade levels and content areas.
- Assist in the selection, implementation, and evaluation of instructional materials and resources.
- Support teachers in implementing research-based instructional strategies that improve student learning outcomes.
- Provide job-embedded coaching, modeling, co‑teaching, and instructional feedback to teachers.
- Plan, coordinate, and deliver professional development aligned to district goals and student achievement needs.
- Facilitate professional learning communities (PLCs) focused on instructional improvement and student growth.
- Assist teachers in differentiating instruction to meet the needs of all learners.
- Promote best practices in literacy, mathematics, and student engagement.
- Lead the development and implementation of robust local assessments aligned to Indiana Academic Standards and ILEARN expectations.
- Support teachers in utilizing formative assessment practices to monitor student learning and guide instruction."
- Analyze ILEARN, ILEARN Checkpoint, local assessment, and other student achievement data.
- Create and maintain data reports and dashboards to support instructional decision‑making.
- Assist teachers and administrators in identifying trends, strengths, and areas for improvement based on student performance data.
- Facilitate data team meetings and support action planning for improved student outcomes.
- Assist district and building leadership teams in developing and implementing school improvement initiatives.
- Support the district's continuous improvement efforts through evidence‑based practices.
- Help establish measurable goals and monitor progress toward district achievement targets.
- Collaborate with administrators to ensure instructional practices align with district priorities and strategic goals.
- Work collaboratively with teachers, administrators, and district leadership to foster a culture of continuous improvement.
- Communicate assessment and achievement data in clear and actionable ways.
- Serve as a resource for curriculum, instruction, and assessment questions across the district.
- Maintain positive and productive working relationships with staff and stakeholders.
- Valid Indiana teaching license required.
- Minimum of five years of successful classroom teaching experience.
- Demonstrated expertise in curriculum development, instructional best practices, assessment design, and data analysis.
- Strong understanding of Indiana Academic Standards, ILEARN, and Indiana accountability systems.
- Experience leading professional development and coaching adult learners preferred.
- Strong communication, collaboration, and organizational skills.
- Ability to analyze data and translate findings into actionable instructional strategies.
- Part‑time position:
Three (3) days per week. - Flexible schedule determined in consultation with the Superintendent and building principals.
- Attendance at selected professional development days, PLC meetings, and district leadership meetings may be required.
The Curriculum, Instruction, and Assessment Coach will be evaluated annually by the Superintendent based on the successful completion of responsibilities, contribution to district improvement goals, and impact on student achievement.
