Job SummaryThe Assistant Professor teaches graduate courses. Develops and organizes course curriculum and instructional materials. Conducts research in the field of expertise. Serves as academic advisor to students. Provides service to the department, school, or public through such activities as leading committees, and volunteer work.
Essential Functions- Full-time, tenure-track appointment with faculty rank
- Faculty workload consists of 15 credit hours per academic year. Faculty workload for this position consists of teaching 9 credits (three courses) per academic year and providing six hours of practicum supervision during the academic year, with the practicum supervision carrying a workload equivalency of 6 credits hours.
- Year-round (12 months) counseling supervision/field experience practicum
- Actively contribute to the faculty's collaborative efforts to maintain the program's COAMFTE accreditation
- Committee service
- Meaningful participation in a collaborative learning community in alignment with the Faculty Handbook
- Participate in outreach, open house events, admissions, and student recruitment activities
- Other assigned duties
- Earned doctorate (PhD or EdD) in Marriage and Family Therapy.
- Possession of an additional theology or religions studies degree (e.g., MDiv, MTS, DMin, or MA), with preparation in pastoral theology, is preferred
- Strong commitment to the integration of theological reflection and social justice principles with the healing wisdom found in counseling, psychology, and the social sciences
- Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) in good standing and eligible for Indiana licensure by endorsement, with Indiana licensure required before assuming the position.
- Contribute a specialization in a MFT therapeutic model or approach, addiction counseling, trauma-informed leadership, family counseling, play therapy, and sexuality, gender, and culture
- Develop and maintain an active scholarly research agenda, including publications and presentations, and participate in service to the program and profession, demonstrating evidence of their professional therapist identity, as described by COAMFTE
- A background in chaplaincy studies is desired
