Early Childhood Education Teacher
The Early Childhood Education teacher is responsible for instructing all courses in the Next Level Program of Studies (NLPS) Early Childhood Education graduation pathway. All courses are dual-credit courses through Ivy Tech, which will require the teacher to be credentialed through Ivy Tech to teach dual-credit courses. In addition to course instruction, the teacher will work with the Early Learning Academy director, and Assistant Early Learning Academy director to assign and monitor students participating in Early Learning Academy classroom observations as part of the students completion of the Early Childhood Learning graduation pathway.
Key Responsibilities- Early Childhood Education NLPS Coursework Instruction
- Classroom instruction of all courses required in the NLPS Early Childhood Education Graduation pathway.
- Currently, these courses include:
Introduction to Early Childhood Education - ECED 100 Health, Safety, and Nutrition - ECED 101 Curriculum in the Early Childhood Classroom - ECED 103 Supportive Interactions and Behavior Guidance - ECED 104 Developmentally Appropriate Guidance in a Cultural Context - ECED 130 Child Growth and Development - ECED 120 CDA Process - ECED 105 - Record Keeping
- Monitor and record student attendance in the Lewis Cass Schools Learning Management System
- Record student grades in the Lewis Cass Schools Learning Management System
- Track and monitor student required observation hours as part of the Child Development Associate (CDA) process.
- Safety & Compliance
- Work with Early Learning Academy director and Early Learning Academy assistant director to ensure all safety protocols and rules with the Early Learning Academy are followed.
Required:
- Masters in Early Childhood Education, or Masters in any field with 18 graduate level credits in Early Childhood Education
- Valid Indiana Educators License, or ability to complete Workspace Specialist certification
- Strong classroom management skills
- Strong organizational skills
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
Preferred:
- 5+ years of experience in Early Childhood Education, or education related field.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills Strong planning, organizational, and multitasking abilities Commitment to student safety and operational efficiency Computer literacy with spreadsheet, word processing, and presentation creation.
