We are searching for one or more faculty members who specialize in the empirical study of democracy. Position will be at the level of Full Professor, though advanced Associate Professors are also considered. The study of democracy is defined broadly, covering research on political regimes and regime change, challenges to democratic institutions, and political behavior. Applicants should have a research agenda that addresses key questions related to democracy, either inside or outside the United States, or both.
Successful candidates will be capable of excellent teaching and mentoring at both the undergraduate and graduate levels. Position duties include research, teaching, and service.
QualificationsA PhD is required in political science, any subfield of political science, other social science disciplines, or related fields.
This search is conducted under the auspices of the Notre Dame Democracy Initiative, a significant investment from the Provost's office that will provide multiple faculty lines and substantial research support.
Applicants will be asked to identify all felony convictions and/or pending felony charges. Felony convictions do not automatically bar an individual from employment. Each case will be examined separately to determine the appropriateness of employment in the particular position. Failure to be forthcoming or dishonesty can result in disqualification.
