About the Role:

This position supports the Fine Arts Program chair through oversight and technical support of studio spaces and gallery operations. The role is integral in maintaining studios that hold courses including Life and Object Drawing I and II, Color and Design Theory, Three-Dimensional Design, Intermediate Drawing I and II, Materials and Processes, 4D Art & Design, Digital Illustration, Painting, Sculpture, Screen printing, Painting I and II and Fine Arts Portfolio.

This role also aids in the operation of the campus galleries and program related special projects.

Key Responsibilities
  • Keep instructional labs maintained and cleaned.
  • Monitor and maintain open studio hours.
  • Check equipment for proper operation and maintenance.
  • Submit facilities work orders as needed.
  • Perform inventories of all supplies and equipment.
  • Check in purchased supplies and record discrepancies.
  • Set up instructional labs as requested and needed.
  • Comply with all safety and security procedures.
  • Maintain current safety data sheets for all supplies used.
  • Provide guidance to work study students on tasks to complete.
Gallery Assistant Responsibilities
  • Maintain a schedule of open gallery hours.
  • Oversee maintenance of galleries
  • Assist in the setup and tear-down of exhibits and displays.
  • Create labels and other didactic materials as needed
  • As required, assist with preparation and tear-down of receptions for exhibitions.
  • Assist with the administration of exhibition programs and projects as needed.
Education & Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in Studio Arts or Art Administration
  • 1-3 years of experience working in an art studio setting
  • Have a working knowledge of basic math, the ability to work independently, demonstrated attention to detail, and an eagerness to learn.
Physical Requirements
  • Stand, walk, and sit for long periods
  • Must be able to climb a ladder
  • Sustain extended periods of walking and moderate physical activity
  • Use hands to feel and manipulate tools and materials, and reach with hands and arms
  • Occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds
