Job DescriptionThe School Site Lead will manage overall daily operations of the before and after school care operations at the Club site under the control of the organization with the primary concern for a comprehensive, outcome-driven program and service delivery.
Key Roles (EssentialJob Responsibilities )
- Establish site programs, activities and services that prepare youth for success and that create a club environment that facilitates achievement of Youth Development Outcomes.
- Ensure a healthy and safe environment; ensuring facilities, equipment and supplies are maintained.
- Oversee the provision of day-to-day program activities and implement daily programs that encourage positive activity. Ensure that members are encouraged to participate in a variety of program areas/activities.
- Discipline members by following guidance procedures, while ensuring communication with Area Director.
- Compile priority outcomes, data such as Average Daily Attendance (ADA)
- Assist with preparing information for reporting purposes when necessary.
- Attend mandatory staff meetings and training sessions.
- Provide continuous support and guidance for Youth Development Professionals within the organization.
- Works closely with Area Director to plan, develop, implement and evaluate specific Site location overall programs, services and activities to ensure they meet stated objectives and member needs and interests. Compile regular reports reflecting all activities, attendance and participation.
- Ensure administrative and operational systems are in place to maintain the operation of the physical properties and equipment of the Club, including use of facilities by outside groups. Ensure compliance with organization policies.
- Recruit, manage and provide career development opportunities for Club staff and volunteers. Works closely with Area Director to conduct staff meetings on regular basis as compliant with needs of training.
- In connection with Area Director, cultivate partnerships with school personnel, parents, community leaders and organizations.
- Develop and maintain public relations to increase the visibility of programs, services and activities within the Club and the community.
- Marketing of unit and organizational programs through all media sources. Preparation and distribution to club families and posting of programs, club hours and special events throughout the unit.
- Provide Area Director with supplies and equipment needs in agreed upon timeline.
- Work with staff on special events to carry out programs in all departments.
- Exercise authority in problems relating to members; utilize guidance and discipline plan and properly documenting as required.
- Assume other duties as assigned.
Internal: Maintains close, daily contact with Club professional staff to interpret and explain organizational mission, program objectives and standards, discuss issues, and provide/receive information. Has regular contact with members as needed to discipline, advise, and counsel.
External: Maintains contact with external community groups, schools, members' parents and others to assist in resolving problems and to publicize Club.
Skills/Knowledge Required- A minimum of 1 or more years of work experience in a managerial role in Boys & Girls Club or similar organization, or 3 or more years of youth work experience, or Associate’s Degree or certificate in a youth development related field.
- Advanced knowledge of the following: child and adolescent development, behavior management techniques, principles of effective youth development programming from an accredited college or university, or equivalent experience.
- Demonstrated ability in personnel supervision, facilities management, and the recruitment and retention of key personnel.
- Strong communication skills, both oral and written.
- Ability to recruit, train, supervise, and motivate staff.
- Ability to deal effectively with members including discipline problems.
- Working knowledge of budget preparation, control and management.
