Job Summary

We are seeking a qualified candidate to serve as the assistant principal at Batesville High School. This candidate will serve as a key member of the school’s leadership team. Please see the below for detailed responsibilities.

Qualifications
  • Education:

    Master’s degree in school administration or the equivalent required.
  • Certification:
    Valid Indiana Building Level Administrative Certificate required.
  • Experience:

    Successful school leadership experience required.
Some of the core responsibilities will include:
Leadership and School Operations
  • Assume responsibility for all school operations in the absence of the Principal.
  • Assist the Principal in the implementation of school-wide goals, initiatives, and daily operations.
  • Coordinate and manage building supervision and duty schedules.
  • Collaborate with administration and office staff to ensure adequate coverage for teachers and aides.
Staff Supervision and Support
  • Assist the Principal in the hiring, evaluation, and retention of certified staff.
  • Oversee the hiring, evaluation, and retention of classified staff.
  • Support staff growth through feedback, coaching, and professional collaboration.
Student Services and Discipline
  • Oversee and implement the student handbook, including discipline, attendance, and behavior expectations.
  • Conduct investigations related to student incidents occurring during school, outside of school, and on school transportation.
  • Maintain accurate documentation and ensure consistency in student discipline practices.
  • Support a safe, respectful, and positive school environment.
School Culture and Student Engagement
  • Oversee all student clubs, organizations, and sponsors.
  • Promote student involvement, leadership opportunities, and school spirit.
  • Support and implement anti-bullying training and prevention efforts.
  • Be visible at various curricular and extracurricular events.
Safety and Facilities
  • Oversee school safety procedures and protocols in collaboration with the Director of School Safety.
  • Monitor and manage school security systems, including cameras.
  • Oversee student locker assignments and management.
Communication and Collaboration
  • Maintain clear and consistent communication with staff, students, and families.
  • Collaborate with school and district leadership to support school improvement efforts.
  • Foster positive relationships across all stakeholder groups.
