Salary Range: $52,000 – $60,000 (annual)
Reports To:
Paralegal Studies Program Chair
Provide quality and engaging instruction across all delivery methods within the Criminal Justice and Legal and Paralegal Studies programs. Deliver timely, meaningful feedback to students regarding program learning outcomes, and engage them outside of class to support both curriculum and co‑curriculum. Contribute to student retention and completion initiatives, community service, and institutional support, while upholding the College’s mission and strategic plan initiatives.
Key Responsibilities- Teach assigned courses using appropriate pedagogy and technology to support student learning in accordance with college policies and program learning outcomes.
- Develop and maintain curriculum and course materials aligned with program objectives.
- Maintain accurate student records, attendance, grades, and other documentation.
- Manage classroom environment in compliance with federal, state, and college safety standards.
- Facilitate student achievement of expected program learning outcomes.
- Use the Learning Management System (e.g., Blackboard) to support teaching, learning, assessment, and communication.
- Provide academic coaching and monitoring to assigned advisees, documenting performance and intervening as needed.
- Maintain posted office hours and student engagement hours per campus expectations.
- Promote student recruitment, retention, and successful completion, including outreach via phone and electronic tools.
- Participate in professional development activities, including training, business industry experiences, and self‑study to enhance instructional and technical skills.
- Engage in scholarly activities to meet annual performance plans and certification/ licensure requirements.
- Stay current in contemporary pedagogy and technologies that best support student learning.
- Participate in community service activities representing the college, and develop industry contacts to strengthen relationships within the service area.
- Provide institutional support as requested, including committee participation, accreditation projects, grant work, and regional meetings.
- Attend commencement and other college events as assigned.
- Adhere to college and regional academic policies.
- Must possess a Juris Doctor from a regionally accredited institution.
- Meeting minimum credentialing standards outlined in ASOM 07.01.00, Faculty Credential Standards, Academic Year
2024‑2025. - Preference for prior experience as a prosecutor, public defender, paralegal, or supervisory paralegal to enrich program content.
- Minimum Qualifications:
One of the following—professional licensure in the field or two years of directly related work experience. - Strong working knowledge of current technologies appropriate to the area of instruction.
