EDUCATIONAL DIAGNOSTICIAN OPENING for the School Year
Position is with Cooperative School Services (West Central School Corporation holds the contracts for CSS employees). CSS is based in Rensselaer and serves nine school corporations:
Benton Community, Frontier, Kankakee Valley, North Newton, North White, Rensselaer Central, South Newton, Tri-County and West Central.
Educational Diagnosticians partner with School Psychologists to assist with the evaluation of students as specified by IDEA/Article 7 to determine eligibility for special education services and serve as a member of multi‑disciplinary teams. They also assist in conducting Functional Behavior Assessments and developing Behavior Intervention Plans. The assigned territory will be 2–3 districts, depending on district size and enrollments.
- Send out appropriate rating scales and other forms to parents and school staff.
- Complete portions of the evaluation that involve collecting and summarizing the student’s educational history and social/developmental history, conducting and summarizing student observations, and administering and summarizing academic achievement assessments. School Psychologists will complete additional assessment components, including cognitive testing, social/emotional assessments, and other psychological measures.
- Communicate on a regular basis about cases with the School Psychologists.
- Communicate results to school staff and parents as part of the multidisciplinary team, including pre‑meetings if requested by parents.
- Attend case conferences and communicate results and multidisciplinary team recommendations, as assigned.
- Other pertinent duties as assigned.
- Serve as a member of school teams in the RTI or MTSS process in assigned buildings and assist the team with tasks such as communication with parents, analysis of data, intervention planning based upon data, discussion of success of intervention, and assistance in the determination of referral recommendations.
- Provide information to school staff and parents regarding disabilities and special education issues and deliver professional development as requested.
- Participate in Cooperative teams and committees as assigned.
- The position covers multiple school buildings and sites and requires use of a personal vehicle for travel with mileage reimbursement.
