About the RoleAdjunct Faculty are hired each semester on an as‑needed basis. They create a learning environment that assists students in reaching their goals and provide effective instruction and assessment within the framework of common syllabi provided.
Major Responsibilities- Facilitate student learning by delivering assigned classes in accordance with College policy and course objectives.
- Make optimal use of available technology to enhance instructional methods.
- Develop and maintain course outlines, syllabi, lesson plans, assignments, tests, and materials.
- Maintain accurate student records, grades, and other requirements.
- Engage with students in meaningful and productive ways that impact student learning and lead to a positive experience.
- Show evidence of developing and implementing active classroom teaching strategies focused on engaging students.
- Interact with students and coworkers in a professional and cooperative manner, complying with College policies, campus guidelines, and expectations.
- Ensure knowledge of and implement emergency and safety procedures for classrooms, labs, and all learning environments.
- Possesses any specialized certifications or credentials required for the class being taught as indicated in the Curriculum of Record (COR) and has 5 years directly related work experience in the field linked to competencies listed in the COR.
- Or possesses a current Workplace Specialist License granted by the Indiana Department of Education appropriate to course objectives and directly linked to credentials, certifications, and competencies listed in the COR, and possesses any specialized certifications required for the class.
- Must demonstrate ability to promote an environment that reflects the broad backgrounds represented by students and employees and in which every individual feels respected and valued.
