About the RoleAdjunct faculty are hired each semester on an as‑needed basis. The successful candidate will create a learning environment that assists students in reaching their goals and provide effective instruction and assessment within the framework of common syllabi provided.
Major Responsibilities- Deliver assigned classes in accordance with college policy and course objectives.
- Use technology to enhance instructional methods.
- Develop and maintain course outlines, syllabi, lesson plans, assignments, tests, and materials.
- Maintain accurate student records, grades, and required documentation.
- Adjust lesson plans, assignments, tests, and materials as appropriate.
- Engage with students proactively and regularly in meaningful ways that impact learning.
- Demonstrate teaching strategies focused on engaging students.
- Interact professionally with students and co‑workers, complying with college policies.
- Implement emergency and safety procedures for classrooms, labs, and all learning environments.
- Maintain a safe, quality educational environment and promote an inclusive atmosphere.
- Strong working knowledge of current technologies appropriate to instruction area; meet faculty credentials as outlined in ASOM 7.1 for the specific instruction areas.
- Earned baccalaureate or higher degree from a regionally accredited institution and completed academic preparation appropriate to the Respiratory Therapy program.
- Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) and Indiana‑licensed Respiratory Therapy Practitioner (RTP).
- Four years of direct experience in Respiratory Therapy.
- Demonstrated appreciation, respect, and promotion of diversity in learning environments.
- Availability to travel to off‑site locations in Northeast Indiana (clinics and hospitals).
- Flexibility to start early morning sessions (e.g., 5:30am) if required.
- All offers contingent upon acceptable criminal background check.
- Official transcripts required at time of hire; unofficial transcripts required with application.
- Teaching in‑person/on‑campus only; no remote option.
- All duties conducted within FERPA and applicable regulatory requirements.
- Meet education component of the School of Medicine discipline standard via one of the following:
- Any specialized certifications or credentials required for the class as indicated in the Curriculum of Record.
- Five years directly related work experience linked to the competencies listed in the Curriculum of Record.
- A current Workplace Specialist License granted by the Indiana Department of Education, appropriate to course objectives.
