Teacher Position – Overview
Head Start has an opening for a full-time Teacher position working 35 hours per week.
Responsibilities- Collaborate with an Assistant Teacher to prepare and implement lesson plans for preschool children ages 3–5
- Complete required developmental, behavioral, and sensory screenings
- Ensure lesson plans and teaching strategies are individualized for each child, including children with IEPs
- Utilize curriculum and computer software accurately
- Maintain child records and documentation
- Participate in recruitment activities for enrollment
- Follow all health and safety standards
- Provide active supervision of all children at all times
- Graduate from an accredited college or university with at least a Bachelor’s Degree in Early Childhood Education or a correlated discipline (preferred)
- Associate degree in a related field with knowledge of child development and experience teaching preschool children (considered)
- Further education may be required to meet additional Head Start requirements
- Must meet Head Start and Indiana Child Care Licensing Regulations, including Head Start Standards of Conduct, federal and state criminal history requirements, sex offender registry checks, drug screen, physical, and complete an annual T.B. test
