Job Summary

We are seeking a qualified candidate to serve as the assistant principal at Batesville Intermediate School. This candidate will serve as a key member of the school’s leadership team. Please see detailed responsibilities below.

Qualifications
  • Education:

    Master’s degree in school administration or equivalent
  • Certification:
    Valid Indiana Building Level Administrative Certificate
  • Experience:

    Teaching and working with elementary students preferred
Student Services & Discipline
  • Oversee and implement the student handbook, including discipline, attendance, and behavior expectations
  • Maintain accurate documentation and ensure consistency in student discipline practices
  • Support MTSS, PBIS, and behavior intervention planning
Special Education & Student Supports
  • Support implementation of IEPs and 504 Plans in collaboration with special education staff
  • Assist with case conferences and compliance requirements as assigned
  • Collaborate with counselors, support staff, and special education staff to support all student needs
School Operations & Safety
  • Assist with daily building operations, schedules, and supervision duties
  • Support arrival, dismissal, lunch, recess, and transportation schedules
  • Oversee crisis response, emergency preparedness, drills, and student safety procedures
  • Serve as acting principal in the principal’s absence
Instructional Leadership
  • Assist in supporting high-quality instruction aligned to state standards and BCSC initiatives
  • Assist with curriculum implementation, classroom walkthroughs, and instructional feedback
Staff Leadership & Supervision
  • Support supervision, evaluation, and coaching of assigned staff
  • Assist with hiring, onboarding, and mentoring of new staff
  • Promote a collaborative and professional school culture
Family and Community Engagement
  • Encourage parental involvement in students' education and ensure effective communication with students and parents
  • Support family engagement and school communication efforts
  • Assist with the coordination and supervision of school events and extracurricular activities
  • Attend assigned after-school events
