Position Summary

The Elementary General Music Teacher provides engaging, developmentally appropriate music instruction to students in grades K‑6. This role fosters a love of music while supporting creativity, collaboration, and foundational musical skills aligned to state standards.

Key Responsibilities
  • Plan and deliver standards‑based music instruction for all elementary grade levels
  • Teach fundamental music concepts, including rhythm, melody, harmony, movement, and performance
  • Incorporate singing, instruments, movement, and creative expression into lessons
  • Differentiate instruction to meet diverse student needs and abilities
  • Assess student progress and provide feedback to students and families
  • Create a positive, inclusive classroom environment that supports student engagement and behavior expectations
  • Prepare students for performances and school programs as appropriate
  • Lead 4th‑6th grade choir and 6th grade band
  • Collaborate with classroom teachers and staff to support school‑wide initiatives
  • Maintain classroom materials, instruments, and equipment
  • Communicate effectively with families regarding student progress and events
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Music Education or related field
  • Valid state teaching license in Music (Elementary/General Music endorsement)
  • Knowledge of child development and elementary instructional strategies
  • Strong classroom management and organizational skills
  • Ability to build positive relationships with students, staff, and families
Preferred Qualifications
  • Ability to lead vocal and/or instrumental ensembles
  • Familiarity with integrating technology into music instruction
Work Environment
  • School‑based setting with regularly scheduled classes
  • Occasional evening events for performances or programs
