Early Childhood Educator II – Level: Entry, Full-time (Hourly).
Location:
Center for Women and Children – Indianapolis, IN.
Reports to:
Program Manager, Compass Kids Program.
- Teaching and Support
- Co‑teach in a therapeutic classroom environment within the Compass Kids Program.
- Implement developmentally appropriate, trauma‑informed, Christ‑centered approaches.
- Use evidence‑based curriculum and sensory tools in educational activities.
- Communicate effectively and clearly with children, parents, coworkers, and volunteers.
- Manage and monitor student data from each classroom.
- Program Support
- Ensure the program meets children’s needs in a Christ‑centered, strengths‑focused, trauma‑informed manner.
- Teach basics of early childhood education in line with best practice standards via sensory tools.
- Provide daily communication to parents and Compass Kids staff outlining events.
- Adhere to all policies, procedures, and Indiana Code.
- Participate in staff meetings and meetings with Compass Kids Program Managers.
- Assist Program Manager with managing accreditation compliance documents.
- Supervisory Responsibilities
- Oversee community engagement through the Compass Kids Program.
- Mentor the Level I Early Childhood Educator on classroom management.
- Coordinate and oversee daily activities within the Early Childhood Center.
- Must have 2+ years of experience working with young children.
- Must possess an associate degree or Child Development Associate (CDA).
- Experience in a school or family‑recovery setting (preferred).
- Knowledge of children impacted by trauma, poverty, and/or homelessness (preferred).
- Above average knowledge of Microsoft Outlook.
- Ability to learn HRIS software (Paycom) and other necessary software.
Must be able to lift a 10–30 pound child safely; stand, sit, walk, bend, kneel, reach, and play with infants, toddlers, or young children for extended periods; conduct indoor and outdoor activities weather permitting.
Other Requirements for Employment- Availability to work 40 hours per week, Monday through Friday, shift times between 7am and 6pm.
- Occasional field‑trip travel may be required.
- Must comply with confidentiality, statement of faith, and core values mandates.
- Mandatory background check, fingerprints, physical exam, and TB test.
- Must pass drug and alcohol test and adhere to WM Drugs and Alcohol policy.
