Paraprofessional for Inclusion, and Resource

Performance Responsibilities
  • Creates positive and respectful relationships with students, staff, parents, administrators and professional agencies who work on behalf of the student.
  • Ability to read, analyze and interpret teacher and related staff directions and follow through with schedule of instruction.
  • Ability to work with individually or with small group to reinforce learning of academic material and/or social emotional skills initially introduced by the teacher in the resource room and/or an inclusive school setting.
  • Ability to assist with supervision of individual, small group or whole classroom as needed for emergency drills, safety plans, school assemblies, field trips and prevocational tasks.
  • Ability to assist with supervision of self-help skills, daily living and pre-vocational skills including recess, lunch, toileting, hygiene, travel in and out of building and community outings.
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions and accurately communicate information in a timely manner with supervising teacher, staff and administration.
  • Ability to be a positive role model and consistently follow through with positive behavioral supports in all educational settings.
  • Participates in research-based academic instruction and behavior crisis intervention training as requested.
  • Maintains the same high level of ethical behavior and confidentiality of information about students as is expected of licensed teachers and directs family communication to appropriate licensed personnel.
  • Willingness to be a team member who is flexible, open to ongoing professional development and can positively accept change on behalf of student or program improvement.
  • Additional duties may be assigned based on specific student or classroom need.
Qualifications

Qualification in ONE of the following:

  • Completed two years of college (60 hrs).
  • Hold a two-year degree
  • Pass state Para Pro exam
  • Extremely organized. Strong multi-tasking and time-management skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
