The Metropolitan School District of Shakamak is seeking an enthusiastic, student-centered Secondary Mathematics Teacher to join our team. This position may include teaching assignments in grades 7–12, with specific courses determined based on district needs and the successful candidate's qualifications. Current needs include junior high mathematics, with the flexibility to teach high school courses such as Geometry, Algebra, or other secondary mathematics classes as enrollment and staffing needs evolve.
We are looking for an educator who is passionate about helping students build mathematical confidence, develop critical thinking skills, and apply mathematics to real-world situations. The ideal candidate values strong relationships with students, collaborative teamwork, and high expectations for learning.
Qualifications- Valid Indiana teaching license (or ability to obtain one) in Secondary Mathematics.
- Demonstrated knowledge of Indiana Academic Standards and effective instructional practices.
- Ability to differentiate instruction to meet the diverse learning needs of students.
- Strong classroom management, communication, and organizational skills.
- Commitment to collaboration with colleagues, families, and the broader school community.
- Experience with educational technology and data-informed instruction is preferred but not required.
- Plan and deliver engaging mathematics instruction for students in grades 7–12.
- Foster a positive, safe, and inclusive classroom environment.
- Use a variety of instructional strategies to support student growth and achievement.
- Assess student learning and use data to guide instruction and interventions.
- Communicate regularly with students, parents, and school staff regarding student progress.
- Participate in professional learning, department collaboration, and school improvement initiatives.
- Fulfill all duties and responsibilities expected of certified teachers in the State of Indiana and MSD of Shakamak.
