Job Description—Spanish Teacher

Position Summary

The High School Spanish Teacher is responsible for delivering engaging, standards-based instruction in Spanish language and culture to students in grades 9–12. The ideal candidate fosters a positive classroom environment, promotes global awareness, and supports students in developing proficiency in speaking, listening, reading, and writing in Spanish. The candidate must be qualified and willing to teach Advanced Placement (AP) and/or Dual Credit Spanish courses.

Responsibilities
  • Plan and deliver high-quality instruction aligned to state standards and world language proficiency guidelines.
  • Teach Spanish I-IV and advanced coursework, including AP Spanish Language and Culture and/or Dual Credit Spanish.
  • Prepare students for AP examinations and/or college-level coursework expectations.
  • Develop and implement engaging lessons that promote language acquisition and cultural understanding.
  • Differentiate instruction to meet diverse learning needs.
  • Use a variety of instructional strategies and technology tools to enhance student learning.
  • Assess and monitor student progress using formative and summative assessments.
  • Serve as a role model, promoting positive behavior, integrity, and responsibility.
  • Maintain accurate and timely records of grades, attendance, and communication.
  • Create a positive, inclusive, and culturally responsive classroom environment.
  • The employee shall remain free of any alcohol or non-prescribed controlled substances abuse in the workplace throughout his/her employment in the corporation.
  • Communicate effectively with students, parents, and staff.
  • Participate in professional development and collaborative team meetings.
  • Sponsor or support extracurricular activities as assigned (e.g., Spanish Club).
  • Performs other tasks as assigned by principal and other administrative staff as designated by the superintendent.
Qualifications
  • Valid state teaching license in Spanish (World Language).
  • Bachelor's degree in Spanish, World Languages, or related field (Master's degree preferred).
  • Must meet qualifications to teach AP and/or Dual Credit courses, including required graduate coursework and/or credentialing through an accredited college or university.
  • Strong knowledge of language acquisition strategies and proficiency-based instruction.
  • Ability to integrate technology into instruction.
  • Strong classroom management and communication skills.
