Role Description The Latin Teacher is a full-time, on-site role based in Indianapolis, IN, responsible for teaching Latin courses aligned with the school’s classical curriculum and academic standards. Day-to-day responsibilities include planning and delivering engaging lessons, assessing student progress, providing constructive feedback, and maintaining accurate records of grades and attendance. The Latin Teacher collaborates with colleagues to develop curriculum, participate in professional development, and contribute to a supportive, inclusive learning environment.
Additional responsibilities include communicating with families and guardians regarding student progress, supporting school events, and upholding school policies and expectations.
Qualifications
- Candidates should possess strong Teaching and Education skills, with experience instructing Latin or classical languages.
- Candidates should possess effective Lesson Planning skills, including the ability to design rigorous, age-appropriate curriculum and assessments.
- Candidates should possess clear and professional Communication skills for engaging with students, families, and colleagues.
- Candidates should possess Training and mentoring abilities to support student learning and collaborate with staff.
- Bachelor’s degree in Classics, Latin, Education, or a related field; advanced degree or teaching license is preferred.
- Demonstrated commitment to equity, inclusion, and culturally responsive teaching practices.
- Ability to manage a classroom effectively and foster a positive, respectful learning environment.
- Prior experience in secondary education or a similar school setting is highly beneficial.
