Location: Ladoga
Special Education Instructional Assistant
Ladoga Elementary is seeking a patient, dedicated, and energetic Special Education Instructional Assistant for the upcoming school year. In this role, you will work collaboratively with special education and general education teachers to provide academic, behavioral, and personal support to students with diverse learning needs. You will play a vital role in creating an inclusive, positive, and safe environment where every student can learn, grow, and thrive.
Key Responsibilities
- Instructional Support:
Provide one-on-one and small-group academic reinforcement in subjects like reading, writing, and math based on students' Individualized Education Programs (IEPs). - Classroom Accommodations:
Assist classroom teachers in modifying assignments, organizing materials, and implementing accommodations. - Behavior Management:
Implement positive behavior intervention plans (PBIPs) and support emotional regulation and social skills development under teacher direction. - Daily Routines & Safety:
Assist students with transitions between classes, lunch, recess, and arrival/dismissal. - Data & Observation:
Assist teachers in collecting data on student progress toward IEP goals. - Student Care:
Provide physical or personal care assistance as required by student needs (if applicable).
Qualifications & Requirements
- Education:
High School Diploma or equivalent required - Experience:
Experience working with children in an educational, childcare, or therapeutic setting is preferred. - Key Attributes:
Exceptional patience, empathy, and positive attitude. Strong communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to work flexibly and collaboratively as part of an educational team. Capability to lift, bend, or assist students as physically needed throughout the school day.
Work Schedule & Compensation
- Hours:
29.5 hours per week (Exact daily start/end times determined upon hire). - Calendar:
Follows the standard school district calendar for the academic year.
