REPORTS TO

The Building-Level Principal and the Superintendent.

SUPERVISES

Teacher aides and students of the building.

JOB GOAL

To inspire students to develop creativity, artistic skills, and confidence through meaningful visual art experiences while fostering critical thinking, aesthetic appreciation, and individual artistic expression.

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Teaches knowledge and skills in visual arts, including drawing, painting, ceramics, sculpture, design, digital art, art history, and other media appropriate to the middle school curriculum.
  • Develops and implements engaging lessons aligned with Indiana Academic Standards and district curriculum.
  • Provides differentiated instruction to meet the diverse learning needs, interests, and abilities of all students.
  • Demonstrates techniques using a variety of artistic media and instructional strategies.
  • Creates a safe, positive, and productive studio environment that encourages creativity, collaboration, and responsible use of materials.
  • Teaches proper care and safe use of art tools, materials, and equipment.
  • Organizes and maintains storage areas while managing materials, equipment, and inventory.
  • Integrates technology and digital media into instruction to enhance student creativity and artistic expression.
  • Uses a variety of formative and summative assessments to evaluate student growth and provide meaningful feedback.
  • Maintains accurate records of attendance, grades, assessments, and student progress.
  • Selects, requisitions, and maintains instructional materials, art supplies, equipment, and inventory records.
  • Communicates regularly with parents/guardians, counselors, administrators, and colleagues regarding student progress and needs.
  • Collaborates with colleagues to support interdisciplinary learning and school improvement initiatives.
  • Plans and coordinates student art displays and exhibitions to celebrate student achievement within the school and community.
  • Participates in professional learning and the district's teacher evaluation process in accordance with Board policy and district guidelines.
  • Participates in curriculum development and other professional activities at the building and district levels.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by the Principal or Superintendent in accordance with Board policy, district procedures, and applicable laws.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT

184 days

Salary established by Master Contractual Agreement.
