WNE is hiring a PE Teacher! The Elementary PE Teacher promotes physical literacy, healthy habits, and social-emotional development among elementary students (Grades 2-4). This role develops and delivers a age-appropriate, engaging physical education curriculum that meets state physical education standards, fosters teamwork, and encourages lifelong fitness.
Key Responsibilities- Instruction & Curriculum: Plan, prepare, and deliver engaging PE lessons that focus on fundamental movement skills, motor skill development, sportsmanship, and physical fitness.
- Classroom & Safety Management: Establish and enforce clear behavior expectations and safety protocols for gym, playground, and outdoor activity settings.
- Student Assessment: Monitor and evaluate student progress, motor skills development, and participation; maintain accurate grades and progress records.
- Inclusivity & Differentiation: Adapt activities to accommodate students of varying skill levels, physical abilities, and special needs (IEPs/504 plans).
- School & Community Engagement: Organize school-wide fitness events (e.g., Field Day, Jump Rope for Heart, wellness initiatives) and collaborate with staff, parents, and administration.
- Equipment & Space Care: Maintain, inventory, and safely store physical education equipment and ensure the gymnasium and outdoor sports areas remain secure and orderly.
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Physical Education, Kinesiology, Education, or a related field.
- Certification: Valid State Teaching License/Certification with a Physical Education (K-12 or Elementary) endorsement.
- Certifications: CPR, First Aid, and AED certification (or willingness to obtain upon hire).
- Skills: Excellent classroom management, strong verbal communication, active movement leadership, and passion for youth health and wellness.
- Ability to demonstrate physical skills, movements, and exercises.
- Frequent standing, walking, bending, stooping, running, and lifting equipment up to 30 lbs.
- Work in indoor gymnasium environments as well as outdoor weather conditions.
