SUMMARY OF ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Teaches elementary school students academic, social and motor skills in the public school setting. Teachers will have excellent organization and communication skills, and hold the philosophy that "all children can and will learn."
QUALIFICATIONS- Education:
Bachelor's degree required;
Master's degree preferred. - License:
Must hold a valid Indiana State Teacher's License in Elementary Education (K‑6) and be deemed Highly Qualified by the Indiana Department of Education.
- Demonstrate a high level of effectiveness in teaching and classroom management.
- Establish and participate in community outreach programs.
- Collaborate with administration, the Special Education Department, and all staff during structured planning time, team building, and other professional activities.
- Prepare rigorous, engaging lessons and instructional materials tailored to individual student needs.
- Use scientifically based best practice instructional strategies.
- Post assignments and input real‑time data on IPS On‑Line weekly; contact parents weekly; arrange parent/teacher conferences after each grading period.
- Implement a variety of instructional methods and materials.
- Administer frequent assessments, analyze data, and make instructional adjustments to improve student learning.
- Encourage parent involvement and seek community resources to enhance instruction.
- Maintain classroom safety and resolve problems promptly and constructively.
- Participate in staff and curriculum development workshops, professional reading groups, and related activities.
- Respond promptly to customer needs and solicit feedback to improve service.
- Perform other duties as assigned.

LANGUAGE SKILLSAbility to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos; ability to present information in one‑on‑one, small group, and large group situations.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLSAbility to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals; compute rate, ratio, and percent; draw and interpret bar graphs.
REASONING ABILITYAbility to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed written or oral instructions; deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONSMust hold a valid Indiana State Teacher's License in Elementary Education (K‑6) and be deemed Highly Qualified by the Indiana Department of Education.
PHYSICAL DEMANDSRegularly required to sit, use hands, talk, hear, stand, walk, reach, climb or balance, and lift or move up to 20 pounds frequently and up to 50 pounds occasionally. Requires close vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
WORK ENVIRONMENTTypically moderate noise level, occasional exposure to wet and humid conditions and outside weather. Accommodations may be made for individuals with disabilities.
