Description
Member SafetyActively monitor and supervise members to ensure a safe, inclusive, and positive Club environment at all times.
Maintain accurate and timely attendance records daily.
Inspect program areas and equipment regularly to ensure proper condition and safe use.
Supervise members during transitions, including transportation and movement between activity areas.
Promptly report and document all incidents, accidents, and safety concerns using required forms and procedures.
Member Engagement and SupportMaintain appropriate professional boundaries in all interactions with Club members.
Support members with homework, tutoring, and academic development as needed.
Lead, coach, and mentor volunteers assigned to program areas.
Observe and report any behavioral, emotional, or health-related concerns to the supervisor in a timely manner.
Follow all established Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and carry out duties as assigned by the supervisor.
Program DeliveryLead structured, engaging, and age-appropriate programs and activities that promote youth development.
Incorporate fun, creativity, and learning into daily programming.
Facilitate large and small group activities in areas such as academic enrichment, recreation, arts, social skills, and life skills development.
Build positive relationships with members through active participation and mentorship.
Requirements
Must pass a criminal background check.
Legally authorized to work in the United States.
Reliable transportation to and from work and program locations.
Ability to assess situations, solve problems, and respond effectively in stressful or emergency situations.
Maintain composure and professionalism under pressure.
Physically able to move across various indoor and outdoor environments and actively supervise members.

The Youth Development Professional (YDP) plays a key role in supporting the mission, goals, and objectives of Boys & Girls Clubs of Indianapolis (BGCI). The YDP creates a safe, positive, and engaging environment that helps Club members achieve success in Character & Leadership Development, Health & Life Skills, and Academic Success. This position models BGCI’s core values of honesty, respect, and responsibility while fostering meaningful relationships with members and ensuring their safety at all times.
