- This gentleman is responsible, in coordination with the Lead Pastor, for giving general oversight to PRIMARILY the Middle School & High School Student Ministries at First Christian Church (FCC); and SECONDARILY the Children’s Ministry, with the knowledge that FCC’s goal is to eventually hire a part-time Children’s Director to further grow and lead that department.
- Consistently practice the Spiritual disciplines of prayer, Bible study, and Scripture memorization.
- Possess a Biblical worldview and a working knowledge of God’s Word.
- Possess and demonstrate a Godly character which includes walking in the Spirit, a humble and teachable attitude, being a Biblically guided peacemaker, and is faithfully sharing the Gospel with others.(Galatians 5; Matthew 18:15-18, Ephesians 4:1-3; 2 Corinthians 5:17, Matthew 28:18-20, Mark 16:15).
- Demonstrate leadership, teaching, and administrative skills/abilities.
- Shall agree with the Mission, Purpose and Doctrinal Statement of FCC.
- In coordination with the Lead Pastor, design and implement overall strategies for both Youth Ministry & Children’s Ministry that are Biblically faithful and culturally relevant.
- Attend Sunday activities/services unless away for Youth programs or scheduled vacation time.
- Coordinate and attend the youth programs at/with FCC.
- Coordinate and oversee/attend children’s programs at FCC.
- Attend youth programs in the community to support students and be present in the community.
- Network and plan events with other area Youth Ministers with the purpose to support and encourage students to meet other Christ- followers in the community.
- Actively pray for the children and students of FCC and the lost in Kendallville and around the world.
- Communicate an outreach strategy to teens and their families as it pertains to FCC.
- Lead and facilitate weekly Youth Meeting(s) for Middle School and High School students. Give direction to and coordinate volunteer Sunday children’s staff.
- Meet and counsel with students of the same gender. Students needing counsel from the opposite gender should be directed to a Youth Leader of the same gender.
- Assist, encourage, facilitate, and communicate with FCC Children’s & Youth Leaders so they may be faithful in their task of ministering the Gospel to students.
- Communicate with parents, students, staff, and Elders as needed.
- Recommend, work within, and manage a Children’s Ministry and Youth Ministries budget as approved by FCC.
- Actively pursue and assist with all Fundraising endeavors for the youth of FCC.
- Attend weekly staff meetings.
- Occasionally provide Youth reports for worship services.
- Attend Board meetings and provide a written report.
- Take part in regular ministry evaluation, planning, and updates with the Lead Pastor.
- Assist in other areas of ministry as needed and able.
- Leadership, Administration, Shepherding, Teaching, Encouragement;
Up-to-date skills with current Windows or Apple applications which are helpful in administration & teaching, graphic design, promotion of youth and children’s programs, etc.
A ministry degree from an accredited Christian educational institution is preferred.
CompensationCompensation includes salary and benefits and is commensurate with experience and education. (Salary package range is 40 - 55K)
