The Cougar Connect Student Support Specialist supports the Cougar Connect Coordinator in providing an organized and effective online learning experience for students. This position works directly with students and families, monitors student progress, provides academic and technical support, and assists with the daily operations of the online program.
- Provide daily support to online students, including assisting with coursework, organization, technology, and questions.
- Assist and supervise students working in the middle school while monitoring their online coursework and progress.
- Monitor student attendance, pacing, assignment completion, and overall progress. Identify students who are falling behind and communicate concerns to the Cougar Connect Coordinator.
- Help students identify and overcome barriers that may be preventing them from making academic progress.
- Communicate with students and parents regarding progress, expectations, deadlines, missing work, and other program-related information.
- Assist with student enrollment, scheduling, records, attendance, and data entry in Power School and other program systems.
- Provide basic technical support for Edmentum, Genius, Canvas, Google Workspace, and related online learning tools.
- Assist the Cougar Connect Coordinator with daily program operations and other duties as assigned.
- Strong organizational and communication skills.
- Comfortable working with students and families and able to build positive relationships while maintaining appropriate expectations.
- Able to monitor student progress, identify concerns, and help develop solutions.
- Comfortable using technology and willing to learn online learning platforms and school information systems.
- Able to work independently, manage multiple tasks, and adjust to changing student needs.
- A successful background check is required for this position.
