Assistant or Associate Teaching Professor in Italian Language and Culture, University of Notre Dame

Description: The Department of Romance Languages and Literatures seeks to appoint a Teaching Professor in Italian language and culture to begin in August 2027. The ideal candidate will be able to teach at all levels of the curriculum, from elementary language and culture through advanced courses, and will contribute to our dynamic undergraduate program committed to innovation and teaching excellence. This is a non-tenure track, renewable, full-time, and benefits-eligible position.

The appointment is for a 3/3 teaching load with the expectation of service. Appointment to the rank of Assistant or Associate Teaching Professor will depend on experience and qualifications. Therefore, the ideal candidate should demonstrate excellence in teaching through innovative methodologies and new technologies in the language classroom, as well as an interest in teaching language courses at all levels.

Qualifications: Native or near-native proficiency in Italian and English is essential, as is substantial experience teaching Italian courses at the university level. PhD in Italian or a related field is required.
