Position Description
Gribbins Specialty Group is hiring a Safety Coordinator based in Indianapolis, Indiana to oversee and strengthen safety efforts across industrial and commercial jobsites. The role supports mechanical insulation and scaffolding operations in active, fast-moving environments and includes active field engagement through jobsite presence, safety observations, compliance monitoring, and coordination with other safety team members.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Provide direction and guidance to other safety team members to ensure consistent implementation of safety programs and standards.
- Provide visible leadership in the field through daily jobsite presence, safety audits, hazard recognition, and coaching to prevent incidents.
- Promote a strong safety culture by encouraging awareness, participation in programs, and open communication about concerns.
- Ensure compliance with OSHA and other regulations by developing and maintaining safety policies and procedures.
- Deliver and support safety training, including Confined Space Entry, LOTO, Fall Protection, Equipment Operation, and First Aid/CPR.
- Utilize and train employees on Safety
HQ software for reporting and tracking safety activities. - Conduct regular inspections and observations to identify unsafe acts or conditions and implement corrective actions.
- Investigate incidents to determine root cause and develop preventive measures.
- Review and maintain accurate safety documentation and reports in accordance with company standards.
- Serve as a resource for safety requirements across all company work sites.
- Travel to various jobsites, primarily in Indiana, to provide safety oversight and support.
- Perform additional assignments as directed by the Supervisor.
Minimum Requirements:
- Associate's degree in Occupational Safety or a related field and at least 3 years of industrial safety experience, OR a minimum of 5 years of onsite industrial safety experience
- Experience working with collectively bargained trades preferred
- Safety certifications (e.g., ASP, OHST, CHST) preferred
- Valid driver's license, ability to travel to jobsites
- Comfortable working in heavy industrial and field environments
- Must successfully pass drug testing, background and driving record checks, in accordance with company policies and standards
- Strong decision-making and situational judgment in changing conditions
- Excellent communicator who builds trust and influences safe behavior
- Coach/mentor mindset; able to lead and develop others in safety best practices
- Ability to build effective relationships with clients, employees, and supervisors
- Proactive and organized; able to manage multiple priorities independently
- Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel)
- Eager to learn and continuously improve
