ASAP is hiring on behalf of our client for an experienced Electrical Cost Estimator to support large-scale pharmaceutical and industrial projects
. This is a contract-to-hire opportunity offering long-term potential, exposure to complex capital programs, and collaboration with highly technical engineering and construction teams.

About the Role

As an Electrical Cost Estimator, you will prepare detailed electrical cost estimates, validate trade pricing, and provide cost intelligence to senior staff and project teams. This role is best suited for candidates with experience in pharma, life sciences, or industrial EPC/engineering consulting environments
, rather than traditional general contractor bid estimating.

Key Responsibilities
  • Analyze drawings, specifications, and project documentation to prepare detailed electrical cost estimates
  • Perform accurate quantity take-offs from conceptual, schematic, and IFC-level design documents
  • Develop independent “should-cost” estimates to validate trade partner submissions
  • Reconcile trade bids with project scope, market conditions, labor standards, and budgets
  • Utilize RSMeans and current market data to ensure accurate pricing
  • Apply knowledge of union and trade labor cost standards
  • Source current pricing from subcontractors, suppliers, and cost databases
  • Prepare cost reconciliations and explain variances between multiple estimates
  • Collaborate with engineers, architects, and project teams to fully understand project scope
  • Maintain organized estimate files and support cost data libraries
  • Participate in site walks and client-facing activities as needed
  • Support senior staff in identifying estimating efficiencies and process improvements
  • Provide guidance to junior technical staff when required
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Quantity Surveying, or equivalent industry experience
  • Minimum 5 years of electrical estimating experience on industrial, pharmaceutical, or complex facilities projects
  • Strong experience performing electrical take-offs and cost modeling
  • Proficiency with RSMeans
  • Familiarity with NECA and/or MCAA standards
  • Understanding of union labor and trade construction cost structures
  • Ability to work independently in a fast-paced, collaborative environment
  • Strong analytical, communication, and documentation skills
Preferred Experience
  • Pharmaceutical, life sciences, or industrial manufacturing facilities
  • EPC, engineering consulting, or owner-side estimating environments
  • Experience supporting large capital programs rather than competitive GC bid work

Candidates coming strictly from general contractor bid-estimating environments may not be an ideal fit for this role.
