Civil CAD Technician
A civil engineering consulting firm specializing in municipal water and wastewater infrastructure is seeking a Civil CAD Technician to support the production of construction drawings for public infrastructure projects. This role offers long-term stability within a recession‑resistant industry and the opportunity to contribute to essential public systems.
The Civil CAD Technician will work closely with engineers and project managers, providing hands‑on drafting support using AutoCAD and Civil 3D.
Key Responsibilities- Produce civil construction drawings using AutoCAD and Civil 3D
- Prepare plan sets, profiles, details, and design exhibits
- Support engineers and project managers throughout the design process
- Assist with quantity take-offs and design coordination
- Participate in occasional site visits or field verification, as needed
- Contribute to a collaborative and team‑oriented drafting environment
- Variety of drafting work across multiple disciplines, including civil, architectural, structural, MEP, and process piping, providing broad technical exposure and preventing repetitive, single‑discipline work
- Intentional focus on training and professional development, with clear job title tiers, skill progression, and corresponding pay tiers
- Use of modern technology to support internal training and productivity, including structured learning tools and systems
- Cross‑training opportunities across multiple software platforms and workflows to support long‑term skill growth
- CAD‑led reporting structure, with the CAD team reporting to dedicated CAD leadership rather than engineering management
- Leadership team that is highly invested in the CAD profession, drafting standards, and evolving design technology
- Continued investment in advanced visualization tools, including virtual reality and virtual walk‑through software used to support client presentations and project communication
- Supportive, collaborative engineering culture with a consistent project workload
- Annual performance reviews and merit‑based compensation increases
- Experience using AutoCAD and Civil 3D in a professional setting
- Familiarity with civil construction drawings and plan production
- Exposure to municipal, utility, roadway, or site development projects preferred
- Strong attention to detail and ability to collaborate within a design team
Candidates who value technical variety, intentional career development, and CAD‑focused leadership within a stable municipal infrastructure environment are encouraged to inquire.
