Are you ready to join our Edinburgh team of talented civil and structural engineers?
AECOM is looking to appoint an ambitious Principal Structural Engineer to join our Edinburgh based structural engineering team – whilst also taking advantage of our flexible hybrid working model. Our Edinburgh team are at the forefront of innovation, delivering an exceptional portfolio of water programmes and projects through long-term partnerships with key clients. You will play a crucial role in the design and delivery of civil engineering projects across Scotland and the UK, supporting major clients including Wessex Water, Scottish Water (SR27), Scottish Canals and the Northern Lighthouse Board.
Here’s what you’ll do:
- Deliver: Lead and/or contribute to the structural design of a wide variety of civil engineering structures for the water industry partners and other key clients. Prepare and review structural calculations, drawings, and specifications, with a particular focus on reinforced concrete (RC) design.
- Expertise: Undertake structural inspections, site surveys, and supervision of construction activities. Support project planning, budgeting, and client communications.
- Collaborate: Liaise with multidisciplinary teams to deliver high-quality, cost-effective solutions; providing technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers.
- Quality: Ensure compliance with relevant UK design codes and standards (e.g. Eurocodes); and contribute to continuous improvement and innovation within the team.

- Degree (or equivalent) in Civil and/or Structural Engineering, or a similar discipline.
- Experience in the design and construction of reinforced concrete structures and structural steelwork.
- Proficient in structural analysis and design software including TEDDS and SCIA, or similar 3D finite element modelling tools.
- Chartered Engineer (CEng MICE or MIStruct
E) or approaching chartership. - Strong understanding of UK structural design codes.
- Able to travel to site or client offices.
