Location: North Vernon

Job Summary:

  • The Controls Technician will assist the Controls Engineer with a variety of tasks including design, programming, operating, servicing and maintaining PLC devices and robots.
  • Second Shift, Hourly Position.
Required

Education:
  • High school diploma; technical degree or equivalent experience preferred.
  • Minimum 1-2 years of experience in similar role; automotive PLC experience an asset.
  • Experience with PLC and electrical systems required.
  • Knowledge of technical controls and strong troubleshooting skills.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills.
  • Good organizational, interpersonal, time management and problem‑solving skills.
  • Highly proficient with the full Microsoft Office suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook).
  • Excellent attention to detail.
  • Excellent time management and work organizational (prioritization) skills.
  • Ability to work independently or on a team.
  • Ability to grasp modern technology quickly.
Essential Functions:
  • Ability to create, maintain and implement product Process Flows and Process FMEA’s in coordination with quality documents (Control Plans) by following QA-WI-051 “Documentation Requirements”.
  • Abide by all company policies including but not limited to the following:
    Health and safety, quality and environmental systems, Human Resources policies, and the Martinrea Employee Handbook.
  • Assist with troubleshooting equipment consisting of weld controllers, robotics and programmable logic controllers.
  • Assist with wiring and programming of electrical and electronic circuits.
  • Assist with programming PLC’s, AC/DC drives, servo drives and robots.
  • Modify robot, PLC and HMI programs.
  • Perform basic equipment maintenance.
  • Change welding consumables as needed.
  • Troubleshoot and repair equipment components.
  • Adjust MIG and spot‑welding schedules on Medar, Lincoln, and Miller weld controllers.
