We’re looking for a Structures Project Manager to join the HMB team!

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the planning, design, and execution of structural engineering projects, primarily in the transportation market.
  • Manage project scope, schedule, budget, and quality control to ensure successful project completion.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for clients, consultants, and stakeholders.
  • Provide technical expertise in structural analysis, design, and materials selection.
  • Oversee and mentor a team of engineers, designers, and drafters.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable codes, industry standards, and regulatory requirements.
  • Develop, review and approve project documentation, reports, and specifications.
  • Identify and mitigate project risks while resolving technical challenges.
  • Support business development efforts, including proposal preparation and client presentations.
  • Provide clients with technical support and subject matter expertise on transportation structures related issues.
  • Conduct appropriate cost‑benefit analyses for assigned projects.
Skills, Knowledge and Expertise
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Structural or Civil Engineering.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) or Structural Engineer (SE) license required.
  • 15+ years of experience in structural engineering and project management.
  • Proven track record of managing structural projects.
  • Strong proficiency in structural analysis software (e.g., Open Bridge/LEAP, MIDAS, Open Roads, Micro Station).
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Experience working with cross‑functional teams, clients, and contractors.
  • Experience working in multiple states is a plus.
  • Project and/or client management experience is required.
  • Ability to guide junior staff and participate in the design and detailing of all aspects of small‑to‑large‑scale structural projects of varying technical complexity.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office programs:
    Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams.
  • Excellent verbal, written, interpersonal communication, and time‑management skills.
  • Strong sense of urgency and self‑initiative to meet client needs and deadlines, as well as other assigned project parameters.
  • Detail‑oriented team player who contributes to a positive work environment.
