Job Overview
Electrical Engineering Specialist – Hybrid/Onsite in office 3 days/week located in Indianapolis, IN. This role focuses on electronic unit development for high‑integrity harsh environments, designing circuits for airworthy/certified electronic engine controllers and monitoring systems. You will manage the entire project lifecycle from architecture concept, through design, prototype testing, to final manufacturing and implementation.
Responsibilities- Collaborate with systems teams and customers to capture and synthesize requirements for electrical components and hardware.
- Architect, design, develop, test, diagnose, and inspect electrical hardware products across the R&D program lifecycle.
- Execute electronics and hardware development activities, ensuring delivery of compliant sub‑system‑level solutions.
- Work independently or with small cross‑functional teams to meet sub‑system program objectives and deliverables.
- Maintain project risk registers, managing technical, cost, supply chain, and timescale risks per the risk management plan.
- Design for functional safety and security, preferably within the aerospace industry.
- Apply aerospace environmental and functional testing practices, including electromagnetic interference (EMI).
- Operate in electronics labs, performing hands‑on development work.
- Bachelor’s degree in a STEM discipline with 5+ years of experience in electrical, software, controls, or systems engineering OR Master’s degree with 3+ years’ experience.
- U.S. citizenship with ability to obtain and maintain a high‑level security clearance.
- Strong technical competence in electric circuit design, verification, and process improvement for harsh environments.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills for both technical and non‑technical audiences.
- Experience in electrical or electronics product development (cable harnesses, printed circuit boards, control panels).
- Worked with multidisciplinary teams of software engineering and mechanical packaging.
- Background in aerospace defense engineering environments and restricted programs.
- Knowledge of embedded electronics and use of Texas Instruments, Xilinx, Microchip microcontrollers or FPGAs.
- Familiarity with DO‑254 or military standards for airworthiness and design assurance of hardware.
