Position Overview
The Senior Project Engineer applies advanced engineering expertise to plan, coordinate, and manage plant capital projects from initial concept through completion. This role develops accurate and cost-effective project and electrical estimates while identifying required equipment, materials, and resources to ensure successful execution. The position maintains a strong understanding of applicable codes and regulations to ensure compliance throughout all project phases.
Key Responsibilities- Develop reasonable and cost-effective project and electrical estimates.
- Maintain appropriate knowledge of applicable codes and regulations.
- Evaluate and identify all equipment, materials and other resources required for physical completion of projects.
- Oversee the development of layout and detail drawings needed for project management.
- Achieve predicted cost, timing, and functional outcome.
- Act as technical resource for reviewing existing assets and proposed projects, providing guidance on risks and benefits.
- Manages conflict effectively.
- Communicates effectively across audiences.
- Delivers good and timely decisions.
- Directs work, provides direction, delegates and removes obstacles.
- Resourceful: deploys resources efficiently.
- Self‑aware: uses feedback and reflection for personal insight.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering required;
Master’s Degree preferred. - 5–10 years of relevant experience in an industrial or manufacturing environment.
- Hands‑on experience in an ethanol plant or similar biofuels operation strongly preferred.
- Experience with similar industrial processes (chemical or continuous processing).
- Experience leading or supporting capital projects, including construction and implementation phases.
- Demonstrated ability to collaborate with and oversee external engineering vendors, reviewing and validating engineering designs, specifications, and deliverables.
Work is performed in a 24/7 ethanol production plant. Requires prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and using a computer. Frequent exposure to adverse weather, dust, fumes, and noise. Must be willing and able to wear personal protective equipment (PPE) as required.
