As a Senior Component Design Engineer – Transmissions, you will be part of the global Turbo machinery Engineering, Technology & Safety organization. You will develop complex engineering solutions that satisfy cutting‑edge aerospace functional and physical requirements and exhibit robustness for manufacturing capability. As part of the ET&S Transmissions engineering team, you’ll be responsible for developing, assessing, and delivering high-performance gas turbine rolling element bearings and advanced aerospace seals that push the envelope with performance, life, and efficiency.
In addition, you’ll support capability growth of the local and global transmissions team as well as developing guidance and training materials associated with advanced bearings and gas turbine advanced sealing systems.

Responsibilities- Develop and deliver new component designs for high‑performance gas turbine bearings and seals, including creating design concepts, optimizing concepts to a final definition, preparing technical presentations and documents, performing dimensional analyses, supporting creation of drawings, delivering hardware for validation, and release of hardware to production.
- Lead investigations of in‑service and/or development hardware issues including failure analysis, root cause / corrective action (RCCA), reporting, and documentation; share findings with the global turbo machinery team in accordance with export control regulations.
- Present and defend design solutions and technical work to program leadership and other stakeholders.
- Perform strength and life‑ing analyses for gas turbine bearings and seals to substantiate suitability for new engine applications and extended performance of existing engines.
- Advance the bearing and seal capability through research and technology, education, knowledge management, and consultation.
- Support the supply chain in procuring hardware including review of supplier production method documentation, assessment of non‑conforming hardware, and review of supplier change proposals.
- Support manufacturing, assembly, service, and aftermarket issues promptly as they arise to keep production on target and the fleet in operation.
- Bachelor of Science degree in mechanical engineering, with 2+ years of experience in mechanical design, OR Master of Science degree in mechanical engineering, OR JD/PhD in Mechanical Engineering.
- To be considered for this role, you must be a US Citizen.
- Demonstrated experience in the design, analysis, manufacture and verification of rolling element bearings and advanced aerospace sealing systems, including industry design methods and tools such as Shaberth, ADORE, and ROMAX.
