Description
SAIC is seeking an experienced Electrical Engineer to provide non-personal engineering, technical, and program support services to the Naval Surface Warfare Center, Crane Division (NSWC-CR).
This position directly supports facility program operations, engineering development, and infrastructure modernization projects across mission-critical facilities. The candidate will collaborate with NSWC Crane technical codes, facility managers, and engineering customers to define requirements, develop designs, and support sustainment activities for electrical and facility utility systems.
JOB RESPONSIBILITES:
- Provide engineering support for facility-related electrical systems including medium- and low-voltage distribution, industrial power systems, and building electrical infrastructure.
- Develop design criteria, performance specifications, equipment utility requirements, and installation documentation for process equipment and mission facility systems.
- Prepare Scopes of Work (SOWs), Rough Order of Magnitude (ROM) cost estimates, and conceptual CAD drawings to support project initiation and planning.
- Identify the electrical service source, distribution routing, and utility interfaces for new or existing equipment; document these in CAD drawings.
- Support emergency, urgent, and routine maintenance planning, including lifecycle management strategies, upgrades, and replacement planning for electrical systems.
- Develop preventive maintenance plans, track electrical equipment inventories, and verify maintenance completion for mission systems.
- Conduct condition and health assessments of electrical systems to support reliability, safety, and mission assurance.
- Troubleshoot facility equipment to update and maintain technical drawings, improve system integrity, and enhance operational performance.
- Produce, revise, and maintain technical documentation and CAD circuit drawings for NSWC Crane facility equipment and utilities.
REQUIRED
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or related discipline with at least three years' experience in industrial, defense, laboratory, or critical-infrastructure environments.
- Interim secret clearance required to start with the ability to obtain a secret clearance. SAIC will sponsor the clearance process.
- Experience with facility electrical systems design, including medium/low voltage power, grounding, controls, electrical safety, and engineering documentation.
- Proficiency with CAD tools for electrical design and drawing updates.
- Ability to develop engineering specifications, SOWs, ROM estimates, and technical analyses.
- Strong communication, analytical, and problem-solving abilities.
EXPERIENCE:
- Experience supporting DoD facility programs, NAVFAC processes, or NSWC-CR engineering operations.
- Familiarity with industrial utilities (power, compressed air, water, ventilation) and integrating equipment utility requirements into design packages.
- Knowledge of lifecycle maintenance planning, reliability-centered maintenance, and asset management practices.
